Ahmed Murtala Rufai
Associate Professor, Department of History and International Studies, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria
Dr. Murtala Ahmed Rufa'i, an Associate Professor of Social History at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, Nigeria, holds various B.A, M.A, and PhD degrees. Specializing in the History of Conflict, he serves as a lecturer at the Center for Peace Studies, teaching courses on peace and conflict resolution. Since 2014, Dr. Rufa'i has been actively involved with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), monitoring and reporting on security situations in Nigeria's Northwest region. He has contributed significantly to various research projects, including those with the United Nations Development Programme and the International Crisis Group. With over 40 publications in reputable journals and books, Dr. Rufa'i is a research fellow at the Center for Democracy and Development, and his recent collaborative works explore the nexus between banditry, insurgency, and jihadism in Northwest Nigeria.
