Cathrine Andersen
Special representative for protection of civilans, Ministry of foreign affairs
Policy director and Special representative for protection of civilians in the humanitarian section, Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
After completing a Bachelor’s degree in political science in 1993 at the University of Oslo, she worked for the Norwegian Helsinki committee and joined the OSCE mission in Eastern Slavonia (Croatia) in 1997. She completed her MA in International law and diplomacy at SOAS, University of London, in 2000.
She has served in the Foreign Ministry of Norway since 2003. She joined the Permanent Mission of Norway in Geneva in august 2012 as Minister Counsellor for humanitarian affairs, leading the humanitarian team at the mission.
In 2016 she joined the humanitarian section in the MFA in Oslo, and coordinated the Protection of civilians file for Norway in the Security Council 2021-2022.
