Mr Charles Goerens has hold many political mandates in his long career in politics. After being elected twice to the Luxembourgish Parliament in 1979 and 1984, he served as President of the Western European Union Assembly, before returning to the national Parliament in 1989. In 1999, he entered Luxembourgish Government and served as Minister for Development Aid and Humanitarian Action, Minister for Defence and Minister for the Environment. Additionally, he was elected Member of the European Parliament in 1994, 2009, 2014 and is currently serving his fourth legislative term in the European Parliament. Here he is Vice-President of the AFCO committee and member of the DEVE committee (Renew Europe Coordinator) and substitute member in the AGRI, BUDG and DROI committees.
