Fernando Ajanth
Regional Security Coordinator, DG ECHO
I am Ajanth Fernando, originally from Sri Lanka. My journey into the humanitarian field commenced in the aftermath of the catastrophic Tsunami in December 2004. Witnessing the impact of such a disaster fueled my commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected.
Since then, my career has taken me to the frontlines of humanitarian crises. From Sri Lanka to South Sudan ,Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria, I have been on a mission to provide support and assistance to communities grappling with the harsh realities of conflict and disaster.
Currently, I find myself in Jordan, serving as the Regional Security Coordinator for DG ECHO. This role not only reflects my professional growth but also underscores my dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of humanitarian workers and vulnerable populations.
