Gisella Lomax is Senior Advisor on Information Integrity at UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. Based in London she leads a new 'Digital Protection' capacity to address the harmful impact of mis, disinformation and hate speech on people forced to flee, and on humanitarian action.

Following a career in journalism with global media organisations, Gisella joined the UN in 2011: a year of global disruption to the information ecosystem driven by digital platforms. She has worked in partnerships, digital comms and strategy roles across the UN, including as Global Head of Social Media for UNHCR, a role where she saw up front the real-world harms that misinformation, disinformation and hate speech levy on refugees.
