Haileselassie Medhin
Programmes Director - People, IKEA Foundation
Haileselassie Medhin is Programmes Director for people at the IKEA Foundation, and overseas the foundation’s work on agricultural livelihoods, renewable energy, employment and entrepreneurship, and refugee livelihoods. He has wide-ranging experience in the nexus of evidence, action and institution building for sustainable development. Haileselassie held senior roles at the World Resources Institute before joining the joining the IKEA Foundation, including Africa Director of Strategy and Partnerships and Country Director for Ethiopia. Prior to that, Haileselassie worked as Director of Institutional Development and Senior Research Fellow at the Environment for Development (EfD) in Sweden, and the founding director the Environment and Climate Research Center in Ethiopia. Haileselassie received his Doctoral and Msc degrees in Economics from the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, and his Bachelor's degree from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia.
