Yuyun Wahyuningrum is the Representative of Indonesia to the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) for two terms: 2019-2021 and 2022-2024.
She has more than 29 years of experience working in human rights organizations at the national, regional, and international levels. She is the Founder and Advisor to Weaving Women’s Voices in ASEAN (WEAVE), a network-based feminist organisation working on the rights of women and girl-children in Southeast Asia
She was the Team Leader of the READI project (2015 – 2017) to support the human rights work of human rights institutions in ASEAN, before pursuing her PhD at the International Institute for Social Studies, at Erasmus University in The Hague, The Netherlands.
She was the Chair of AICHR in 2023 and received the Mahidol’s Outstanding Alumna Award of 2024. She was selected as one of the Indonesian women experts in 2018 at the #100womenwiki and appointed as International Democracy Goodwill Ambassador from 1 May 2021 to 31 December 2022 by The Korea Democracy Foundation.
